How can I get involved?

Youth Yoga Project loves working with community partners and volunteers in a variety of capacities.  Volunteers most often work with us to host 1) yoga mat drives, and 2) friendraising and fundraising events. How can I fund a yoga program at my school?

Funding for training, materials and other implementation resources for a school-based yoga program can come from several sources.  Here are some funding options to look into:

  • Community businesses and foundations

  • PTO and PTA organization

  • School and district funds that support professional development and/or school improvement goals (ex: mental health, social-emotional learning, bullying prevention, classroom management, trauma-informed teaching, etc.)

  • State level grants from state education department or professional associations

  • Donor’s Choose Campaign and other crowdsourcing platforms

How can I use Youth Yoga Project curriculum?

Youth Yoga Project curriculum is available to educators via our online platform through a yearly subscription.  Educators have unlimited access to the curriculum for the duration of their subscription. You can learn more about Youth Yoga Project curriculum.  

How can I learn to teach yoga and mindfulness to my students?

Youth Yoga Project hosts two day immersion workshops that empower educators with the tools and skills they need to share yoga and mindfulness with students. Please visit our workshops & events page to learn more about upcoming training opportunities.

Do I have to be “good” at yoga to attend one of your trainings or workshops?

Our trainings and workshops are open to ANYONE. No previous experience with yoga or mindfulness is required to attend a Youth Yoga Project training.  We are also happy to make any necessary accommodations to make the training accessible to everyone.

What types of students and schools do you work with?

We work with all types of schools and students and believe that yoga and mindfulness are for everyone.  We work with students in PreK-12th grade in public, charter and private schools and in urban, suburban and rural communities.

Do you work with schools outside of Central Ohio?

Yes, we have worked with schools across Ohio and in other states.  Please inquire at about working with us outside of Central Ohio.

What research supports yoga and mindfulness in schools? Are yoga and mindfulness evidence-based practices?

Research on yoga and mindfulness over the past two decades has shown tremendous evidence to support the benefits of yoga and mindfulness instruction for youth. Specially, evidence shows that yoga and mindfulness instruction is a trauma-informed practice that supports students’ social, emotional, physical and cognitive well-being.
