Youth Yoga Project works with school communities to change the way they respond to student behavior.
Since 2017, YYP has partnered with Lancaster High School to replace their detention program with a restorative alternative that includes yoga and mindfulness. This program equips students with a repertoire of healthy coping skills that they can utilize throughout their school day. Data shows that this program transforms student behavior.
After Participating In The Program
72% of student participants did not repeat the offense that got them referred to the program for the rest of the school year.
Self-Awareness & Self Management
95% of students reported that the program helped them become more aware of their breath, thought and feelings, and body.
85% of student participants reported that the program taught them tools and strategies to manage their feelings and emotions.
95% of student participants reported that the program gave them ideas for how to avoid getting in trouble in school in the future.
